Charles Spurgeon, perhaps the greatest preacher of the Gospel to have ever preached in the Western world told his congregation in London that it was important for him to preach in other churches from time to time. He said it was important for people to hear the Gospel preached from others, so their ears do not become bored or desensitized to hearing it too often from the same voice.

So, it was this past Sunday when Paul Andries (Aaron Andries’ father) preached the Gospel here at Rock Valley Chapel. How precious to hear those beautiful words of truth spoken by a man who preaches on the East Coast and whose family heritage is from the Caribbean nation of Guyana.

The Gospel is so sweet no matter the speaker, no matter the language, no matter the accent, no matter the race, no matter the favorite football team…no matter what; the Gospel is our greatest treasure around the world.

I was refreshed and blessed to be reminded that one way of putting Christ on display is to brag on Him, and not on ourselves. I was reminded of that great verse in Jeremiah 9:23-24:

23 Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

God has blessed us so richly in this life, but most importantly with the hope of salvation that we have through faith in Jesus.

That’s worth boasting about. When is the last time you boasted about the Lord to someone?

Pray for opportunities to “brag on God” for His glory!

Bragging on God with you,
Pastor Tim
