FROM ELDER PETER RICHARDSON:

As always, I was blessed to bring the message to you this past Sunday.  I hope that the importance of your divine inheritance resonated with you.  Whenever I think about inheritance, it makes me think of investing.  On this earth, we only have a certain amount of time and talent available to us, so it’s important to use it wisely.  God wants us to glorify him by seeking his will for our lives.  We need to invest in things that have eternal relevance.

In the Valley of Vision book (available in our church café bookstore), one of the prayers is entitled “Man’s Great End” (p.13).  It speaks to the importance of wise investment.  It reads:

“Time is a moment, a vapor, and all its enjoyments are empty bubbles, fleeting blasts of wind, from which nothing can be derived;”  It goes on to say, “Help me to know continually that there can be no true happiness, no fulfilling of the purpose for me, apart from a life lived in and for the Son of thy love.”

Let’s renew our efforts to live significant lives for Jesus.  Too much of life tends to be chasing after those “empty bubbles” that have no lasting value.  Instead, let’s invest in our divine inheritance by doing the Lord’s work while we are here on Earth.  That is the only kind of investment that has lasting value!

Finally, I’m sure that you, like me, are missing Pastor Tim.  By my count, he will be back with us in 12 days!  Please continue to pray that he has a restful break while he “recharges” for this coming year of ministry.  I’m sure that he would be pleased to have me remind you to…Read your Bibles!

In Christ,

Elder Peter Richardson
