FROM PASTOR TIM JOHNSON:

What a personal blessing for me to have been with you all on Sunday teaching the Bible, preaching the Gospel, singing with you all and seeing you. Thank you again for your many prayers for the surgery and my ongoing recovery.

This Easter season theme is “He is Worthy”. I can think of no better place in the Bible to reinforce and promote the true statement that Jesus is worthy. He is worthy to take the Scroll from the hand of God; He is worthy to break the seven seals and He is worthy to open the scroll. He is worthy!

One saint mentioned after the sermon that they were struck by verse two’s mentioning of “a mighty angel” who announced the question, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals”?

She pointed out that perhaps the text indicates it was a mighty angel, as opposed to simply any angel, because not even the mightiest angel is able to open the scroll. It is not the mightiest that God is looking for, but those who are worthy. I love it, great insight into the text. It reminds me of Jeremiah 9:23-24:

“Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

God is looking for people who know Him, and no one has known God better than Jesus, the son, who as God Himself, is worthy to open the scroll. And great is the truth that He considers us worthy to dwell with Him forever when we repent of our sins and trust that Jesus is worthy to pay for sins.

He is risen!!

Happy Easter, Rock Valley Chapel!
