FROM PASTOR TIM JOHNSON:

This past Sunday we bid farewell to our brother in Christ, Connor Bradbury. We are saddened that he has left us, but we absolutely rejoice over the reason he left us. Connor is going to seminary to be trained as a conduit of the Gospel of Jesus the Messiah to the military as a chaplain.

He is going to be prepared to enter into a unique mission field that carries several levels of challenges for him personally and our country corporately. The military is massive and filled with men and women who are ready to offer their very lives as a sacrifice for their nation. It is a high calling, but it is not the highest calling.

The highest calling for any human being is to glorify the God of the Universe who created them and by grace alone saves some. And those who are saved are called to fulfill the Great Commission for God’s glory.

Jesus said, “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Isaiah 6:1-4 paints an amazing picture of God’s glory. As disciples of Jesus, God’s glory should be our greatest pursuit and highest goal because God’s own glory is His highest and greatest delight. It could not be otherwise.

I pray that each sheep who is part of Rock Valley Chapel will take “holy pride” in knowing that by God’s grace alone, our little church has been considered worthy to have been chosen to help shape this young man into the new Creature that he is, called now to bring God’s glory to a challenging and difficult mission field.

Pray for Connor. Pray that He never ceases to lose his awe for God’s glory. Pray that he studies hard. Pray that God surrounds him with men of God who know and love Jesus and study their Bibles daily. Pray for God’s glory.

While I sorrow for our “loss”, I rejoice in God’s victory over Connor…who, like me and you…is….forever….Rescued by Christ,

Pastor Tim
