FROM PASTOR TIM JOHNSON:

Many, many, many people indicated after the sermon on Sunday that they were challenged to be more active in evangelism. Praise the Lord. A couple of folks thought for sure I was going to plug Ro-Rom but I did not think about that. Bummer.

Our annual opportunity to share the Gospel with people at the business exposition held in Roscoe (their name is changing) will be upon us in about two months, and I cannot think of a much better way for someone to put themselves in a place to tell someone about Jesus.

But let’s remember to pray first. Pray for the Lord to raise up an army of laborers who are committed to telling others about Jesus. It’s not easy, it can be uncomfortable, it will require one to step out of their comfort zone and often you get turned down before you can even begin to tell them about Jesus.

So, who would want to do that?

I can think of a few disciples who were willing to go to the ends of the earth. There was the 72 who went out into 36 towns, followed by Jesus; the main attraction. Thousands have gone out over the years; some to very dangerous places from which some never returned.

Let’s pray for laborers. Let’s pray that God might forge each of us into wanting to become laborers. Let’s pray for a vision for how to mobilize our church to advance the Gospel in our own little world.

Have a great New Year!

Rescued by Christ,

Pastor Tim
